Conservatives can win — they just need courage to stand up and be willing to take the heat. Of this, Elaine Beck and Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) have no doubt.
In conversation with Elaine Beck, Rep. Perry, the Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus and a retired brigadier general and helicopter pilot in the U.S. Army National Guard, details some of the insults and ridicule he and his colleagues endured. Yet, he does so without resentment or concern. “When you fear God, you don’t have to fear anything else,” Perry said. Elaine Beck, in addition to thanking Perry for his military service, thanked him for the good example he and his congressional colleagues gave to other American patriots. The reality is the Freedom Caucus’ objection to Kevin McCarthy could have ended in defeat, but Beck draws on the deep wellspring of faith that Christians have in their relationship with God.
“There’s no such thing as failure,” Beck said. “There’s an opportunity to learn. An opportunity to grow. An opportunity to find that there is something else that would suit you better. But it is not a failure.” Beck ends by encouraging conservatives who may be tempted to stay quiet at school board meetings and city council meetings to not give in and to make their voices heard. Without missing a beat, Perry responded, “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.”
